This page walks through the mechanics end to end: what happens when you connect a portal, how the extraction works and how accurate it is, how often your data refreshes, what to do if we don't yet support a portal you use, and how to reach a person if you need one.
How we work
How Elementar works
Connect the fund-administration portals you already log into. Elementar's document-intelligence model reads the statements and notices that land there and extracts the figures automatically. Clean, normalized data flows into your workspace — and out to the tools your office already uses.
Three steps: connect, extract, deliver
Getting your portfolio data into Elementar happens in three steps. None of them require your IT team, and none of them require the fund administrator to do anything on their end.
- Connect your portals. Securely provide your fund-administration portal credentials. They're encrypted and held in Azure Key Vault — decrypted only by automated processes to log in on your behalf; any human access is restricted and audited.
- AI-powered extraction. A document-intelligence model — trained on real fund-administration documents and improved over time from corrections — extracts NAV, commitments, distributions, capital calls, and more. Every field carries a confidence score, and uncertain data is flagged for review.
- Unified delivery. Clean, normalized data lands in My Documents in your workspace — and out to the reporting tools you already use. One view across all your fund administrators. (Structured per-fund rollups and the Ledger dashboard are part of Full Elementar, available once enabled for your account.)
No API, no IT project
Elementar works with the portals you already log into — the ones that have no data feed of their own. There's nothing to build and nothing for your administrators to enable. You don't need a technical team involved, and the fund administrator never has to change how they work.
What we extract
Elementar extracts capital calls, distributions, NAV, commitments, and paid-in and unfunded capital — across private equity and venture capital, and across every administrator in your portfolio. That spans 15 document types in total, including capital account statements, capital-call notices, distribution notices, and NAV reports, with figures normalized into 8 currencies so a fund reporting in a different currency still rolls up cleanly next to the rest of your book.
How accurate it is, and what happens when we're not sure
Our document-intelligence model reaches roughly 86% field-level accuracy on real fund documents, and every field carries a confidence score. Anything uncertain is flagged for human review rather than published silently — so a figure you see has either cleared that confidence bar or been checked by a person first.
How often we refresh
Your data refreshes twice daily. New documents are found and extracted automatically as soon as they appear in a connected portal, and you're notified by email digest rather than having to check back manually. See Digests for how those notifications work.
Getting data into your own tools
If you need your normalized data in the reporting tools your office already uses, email us at eilon@elementarai.com with the format or recurring feed you need, and we'll help you get it working — so Elementar can sit alongside your existing workflow rather than replace it.
Adding a portal we don't cover yet
Elementar connects to 16 fund-administration portals today, and any portal your office uses can be added in up to 3 days. If your office uses a portal we don't yet support, submit a request from My Settings → Connections → + Add Connection → Request Special Portal (or email eilon@elementarai.com with the portal name and a bit about your portfolio there), and we'll take it from there.
Reaching a person
You can always email us directly at eilon@elementarai.com — it reaches the team behind Elementar, not a queue. If something needs hands-on attention while you're in your workspace, you can also describe the issue to Lumos: it will ask a few clarifying questions and try to help you resolve it, and if that doesn't settle it, it can open a support ticket for the team on your behalf so you don't have to leave the conversation to file one.
Quick answers
Do I need an API or IT project to connect a portal?
No. Elementar works with the portals you already log into — the ones that have no data feed of their own. There's nothing to build and nothing for your administrators to enable.
How accurate is the extracted data?
Our document-intelligence model reaches roughly 86% field-level accuracy on real fund documents, and every field carries a confidence score. Anything uncertain is flagged for human review rather than published silently.
How often is my data refreshed?
Twice daily. New documents are found and extracted automatically, and you're notified by email digest.
Can I get the data into my existing tools?
Yes, on request — email eilon@elementarai.com with the format or recurring feed you need and we'll help you get it set up.
