The reporting problem that doesn't go away on its own
Your alternative-investment book spans a dozen funds, several administrators, and as many portals. Every reporting cycle starts the same way: manual logins, PDF downloads, rows pasted into a spreadsheet, numbers reconciled by hand. The problem is structural, not a discipline problem. Portals weren't built to talk to each other; administrators have no obligation to provide a data feed. The result is a recurring manual workflow — log into each portal, download notices and statements as PDFs, re-enter figures by hand, reconcile currencies — that repeats every cycle and carries transcription risk every time. For an office operating at fiduciary standard, stale or miskeyed data in a capital-call schedule isn't acceptable.
How Elementar works
Connect your portals
You provide your portal credentials once. They are encrypted immediately with per-tenant keys — Fernet, AES-128-CBC + HMAC-SHA256 — and stored in Azure Key Vault, never in plaintext. Elementar accesses your portals read-only: no funds ever move, and 2FA is handled automatically.
AI document extraction
A model trained on real fund documents reads your statements across 15 document types. It extracts capital calls, distributions, NAV, commitments, paid-in and unfunded capital across PE and VC, normalized to 8 currencies. Every field is confidence-scored. Uncertain data is flagged for human review and not published silently to your dashboard. The model improves from the corrections you make. Current field-level accuracy: approximately 86%.
Unified delivery
Extracted data flows into the Unified Portfolio Dashboard, refreshed twice daily. You receive an email digest when new data arrives. From the dashboard you can search the document library — original PDFs are one click away — and export to the tools you already use.
What you gain
- One view of total alternative exposure across every fund and administrator
- Capital-call and distribution tracking without manual work
- A searchable document library with the original PDF one click away
- Export into your existing tools — Elementar is the data layer, not a replacement
- 16 portals today — Citco, Apex Group, Moonfare, Buligo, Harbor Group, Aduro, Intralinks, Sun Holdings, Agora, Orca, HGI, Clockwork, iCapital, Alter Domus, BDO, IBI Investment House — and any other portal added in up to 3 days
Security & compliance at fiduciary standard
Elementar is Swiss-domiciled (Elementar GmbH) and operates under nFADP and GDPR. Data is processed and stored exclusively in European Azure regions (EU and Switzerland). Per-tenant isolation means no client's data ever touches another's. Portal credentials are encrypted with per-tenant keys (Fernet, AES-128-CBC + HMAC-SHA256) in Azure Key Vault, never in plaintext. Data at rest is protected with AES-256 across Azure Storage and Cosmos DB; transit is TLS 1.2+. Authentication uses signed JWT (HS256), Secure/HttpOnly/SameSite=Strict cookies, and CSRF protection on every mutation. Access to portals is read-only — no funds ever move. 2FA is handled automatically.
The direction: automating the operations of the family office
The data problem is where the work starts. Today Elementar solves one well-defined piece: getting alternative-investment data out of fragmented portals into a single, accurate, current view — without manual labor. The stated direction is broader — automating the operations of family offices — and the data layer is the proven first step toward it.
Frequently asked questions
Some of my administrators are not on your portal list — what happens?
Elementar supports 16 fund-administration portals today: Citco, Apex Group, Moonfare, Buligo, Harbor Group, Aduro, Intralinks, Sun Holdings, Agora, Orca, HGI, Clockwork, iCapital, Alter Domus, BDO, and IBI Investment House. If a portal your office uses is not on that list, it can be added in up to 3 days — Elementar works with portals the way you do, by logging in. No API or integration is required on the administrator's side.
Does connecting Elementar require an IT integration or API setup?
No IT integration or API is needed. Fund-administration portals have no data feed your office can consume directly, and administrators have no obligation to provide one. Elementar connects to portals the way you do — by logging in with credentials you provide once. There is nothing for your IT team or your administrators to enable.
How confident can I be in the extracted figures?
Elementar's AI document-intelligence model achieves approximately 86% field-level accuracy. Every extracted field is confidence-scored. Fields that fall below the confidence threshold are flagged for human review and are not published silently to your dashboard — you see what is certain and what is pending review. The model also improves from the corrections you make.
Where is my data stored and who can access it?
Your data is processed and stored exclusively in European Azure regions (EU and Switzerland). Elementar is Swiss-domiciled (Elementar GmbH) and operates under nFADP and GDPR. Each tenant's data is strictly isolated — no commingling between accounts. Portal credentials are encrypted with per-tenant keys (Fernet, AES-128-CBC + HMAC-SHA256) in Azure Key Vault and are never stored in plaintext. Access is read-only: no funds ever move through Elementar.
Can I export the data to our existing reporting system?
Yes. Elementar is designed as the data layer, not a replacement for your existing tools. You can export normalized portfolio data — capital calls, distributions, NAV, commitments, paid-in and unfunded capital — to the reporting tools you already use. Elementar handles the extraction and normalization; your downstream stack receives clean, structured data.
